Gorgeous all the damn time
My pity wells up for Paul, who has just endured the Gloom, a heart-wrenching brief deviation from the “Mediterranean climate” of Santa Barbara. I, on the other hand, live in Houston (climate: humid subtropical), where we just enjoyed the second wettest June on record. June 2004 was surpassed only (and only slightly) by June 2001, home to Tropical Storm Allison and “catastrophic flooding.”
Fortunately, Houston too has returned to sunny weather. I think we overshot the 75° mark though.

Remind me again why I left Houston? Oh, wait. You just did.

Heh - thank goodness the rain is over finally! A month of rain every day - it was like being in Boston in the spring again. Nothing but blue sky out there now. Yeah, it is definitely July though… it is so darn hot out there now! I am now having to shower twice a day - once before my day in the hospital and now when I come home covered in sweat. It is way too darn hot outside for even a 10-15 minute ride on my scooter with a helmet on!! Gee - can’t wait till August.
I still love Houston though - cool squirrels, and no mudslides, wildfires, or chance of falling off into the ocean. Oh yeah, and we have the Creamy. Take that.

Baa. OK, so they said our rain was over. This weather annoys me. http://www.weather.com/weather/local/77054 It was so beautiful this morning, too. Then we lost a tree on the road when a huge storm moved in. Check out this ominous panoramic photo of today’s incoming storm in Pearland: http://dsandler.org/entries/images/20040706-storm-coming.jpg . Cool. Depressing. Blah, oh well. Good thing I am inside all day and don’t see the windows.

We too are experiencing a regression in our weather. It’s been dreary and misty for most of the past couple of days. I even wore my lightweight fleece to lunch today (with my sandals, ah Southern California). I’m sure the sun will return soon enough. And hey, next year Houston may suffer another drought and you’ll be wishing for rain.
